Police Speak Over Civilian Militias Attacking Dar Man.


Few hours after a video went viral on social media showing a person, purported to be a civilian militia, violently beating a man, the Kinondoni Regional Police Commander Murilo Jumanne has spoken.
At a press conference, Commander Murilo confirmed that incident happened in Bunju area where the victim identified as Robson Orotho was beaten by three militias after allegedly refused to pay a cleanliness penalty.
He explained that the three militias were following up on people who haven’t paid their fines.
“They started attacking him after he refused to pay 50,000/- they fined him,” he said.
Commander Murilo continued saying Orotho who is a businessman was rushed to Mwananyamala hospital for treatment due to severe pains he sustainied on his shoulders, legs and head.
“What these militias did was unlawful because they’re not authorized to physically attack people,” he added.
