Everton Winger Yannick Bolasie Given Warm Welcome In Tanzania.

Everton touched down in Tanzania this morning for their ground-breaking pre-season friendly – where the warmest welcome was given to one of their non-playing party.

Yannick Bolasie, recovering from a serious knee injury, has travelled with the Blues squad.

Even though he is unlikely to play again until Christmas after undergoing two operations to repair his meniscus and cruciate ligament respectively, he was the player the local football fans most wanted to see.

A coach passing the Everton team bus ferried passengers waving “Bolasie Fan Club” flags, a passing motorcyclist paraded a Yannick Bolasie flag while a three wheeler scooter waved a Team Yannick Bolasie flag.

England’s record goalscorer, a £25m defender and a group of England’s Under-20 World Cup winners are with the Blues for tomorrow’s friendly with Gor Mahia – but it looks like a man who won’t even be on the pitch will be the most popular member of the Blues squad during their short stay in Dar Es Salaam.

Bolasie has made 31 appearances and scored eight goals for Democratic Republic of Congo, a neighbour of Tanzania, separated by the huge Lake Tanganyika.
